The new album 'Tell the Nations' what is it all about?
Tell the nations is a worship EP written to inspire and encourage individuals and churches to get out there and spread the word! The style of music is mixed and varies which I believe is representative of my church. The reaction I have been getting has been quite funny as I think some people thought it was an RnB album!

How have you personally told the nations?
I personally have done this through living my life and doing life with people. Allowing people into your world lets people see the God in you. Also I have been on various missions around the world including Jamaica, Ghana, Brazil and Belgium to tell and show people the love of Christ.

You wrote all the songs on the EP tell us about how a couple came about

Now I see...
Now I see is a very special song to me and was one of the first songs I ever wrote. I was brought up in church however I only made a real commitment to God when I was 17, however it was at 19 when I was reading the gospels and I had a real experience with God. It was like a light switched on in my mind and that day I truly began to grasp at what Jesus did and that he did it for me.

Tell The Nations...
Tell the Nations is the only song on the EP that was co-written with a friend I have only recently made Richard Butt. Richard sent me some music and I caught the vibe straight away as it was a real feel good song. I immediately saw the theme of the song about going and telling the world and me and Richard wrote this song to excite and empower the church to get up and do so!

You are my Strength...
This song was written for a seminar I was taking on song writing where I was showing them how you can grab something from the bible and make it a song. This song is from Exodus 15v1

What was your musical up bringing?
My family is a very musical family as most families brought up in church. My Grandad was the Pastor of Emmanuel Christian Centre and my Dad Andy Colthart was the worship leader for many years. I have many good memories of singing in worship, even going to America with our church worship team. Growing up I learnt piano and more recently I have started to dabble on the bass and acoustic guitar. What is funny in my house it's actually my older brother Matt Colthart who is the musical one!

Who are your musical influences and is there any Worship Leaders who have helped or inspired you?
I have many influences and what has shaped me most in terms of my preference of music is my Dad! Although he’s a white guy from Scotland he has always loved black gospel music!! Therefore my preference is more to gospel music. But someone who has been my biggest influence is Israel Houghton, which I think you can tell from 'Tell the Nations'. A lot of other people have also inspired and influenced me including Noel Robinson, Kirk Franklin, Aaron Keyes, Chris McClarney, Matt Redman and Pastor Doug Williams (Paradise)!

What's next? More songs, travelling?
I will be going on mission again in 2013 to Trench Town, Jamaica with my youth group where we will be rapping, doing drama and preaching the gospel in schools and ghettos. I am also still writing, leading and I will be helping Richard Butt with his EP which people need to watch out for!
